Browsers, 2 Parts
Goals
This lesson is intended to provide a general understanding of
browsers, what they are and how they work. This first lesson will
explain the basics of the interface and the most commonly used
functions such as back and forward, stop and refresh.
Enabling Objectives
This lesson will be in the form of a quicktime video which
describes the browser interface, introducing and describing the
various parts of the browser window and the toolbar. The trainee will
also find a description of a URL and will be given basic information
about moving around the interface and navigating to Internet
pages.
Terminal Objectives
Upon completing this lesson, several terminal objectives will be
attainable:
- Trainees will be able to negotiate a browser interface and
demonstrate the location of the menus, toolbars, URL address box,
status bar, and content window.
- Trainees will be able to explain the difference between a
"favorite" and a "bookmark", and display an understanding of the
non-uniform vocabulary of browsers.
- Trainees will be able to locate and operate the more standard
functions present in most browsers, including back, forward, stop,
refresh, print and go.
- Trainees will be able to examine a page for "printer friendly"
and/or PDF icons.
- Trainees will able to locate linking elements, including inline
text, buttons, icons and images. They will demonstrate the technique
of sweeping a page for pointer changes indicating linking
elements.
