Goals

This lesson is intended to provide a more in depth understanding of browsers, exploring some of the preferences. This second lesson will explain some of the more advanced features such as setting the default homepage, saving and organizing bookmarks, configuring the history tool, and exploring the menus.

Enabling Objectives

This lesson will be in the form of a quicktime video which describes the browser menus, and walks through some example features using screen captures of actual browser windows. The Trainees will be encouraged to explore the menus, being careful to take note of any changes so as to be able to reset.

Terminal Objectives

Upon completing this lesson, several terminal objectives will be attainable:

  1. Trainees will be able to locate and configure their default homepage. They will be able to demonstrate the differences between Explorer and Netscape for this function.
  2. Trainees will be able to bookmark and return to a web site, and to do this in both Netscape and Explorer.
  3. Trainees will be able to go to their browser's help menus and locate directions for importing and exporting bookmark collections.
  4. Trainees will be able to find and use the history tool, and to clear the history. They will also be able to explain the difference between the history tool and a bookmark list.

Trainees will also make notes before committing to changes in browser preferences in order to be able to retrace their steps and reset the browser to defaults.
