Goals

The purpose of this lesson is to help trainees to understand the basics of acquiring graphic images for web pages.

Enabling Objectives

During this lesson, trainees will be shown examples of digital photos, and sample scanner interfaces, along with a basic description of the process of using scanners and digital cameras, image software and image CDs.

Terminal Objectives

Upon completing this lesson, several terminal objectives will be attainable:

  1. Trainees will be able to define the difference between a "digital photograph" and a "digitized" photo.

  2. Trainees will be able to install a scanner and open scanner software from within Photoshop.

  3. Trainees will be able to explain why "72 dpi" is only a general guideline.

  4. Trainees will be able to explain why an image may look much larger on one monitor than on another.
