The three components of this resource provide: 1) a general overview of the Navajo people and their culture as well as practical advice about living in Navajo communities; 2) a synopsis of policy initiatives, focusing on the period from 1961 through 1994, in Navajo education at the federal, state, and tribal levels; 3) an explanation of Navajo cultural taboos and common causes of cultural friction between Navajo people and outsiders.
